The Jamu Lifestyle Programme
Your ritual, extended to the rest of your life.
Twelve weeks, one guide, and a handful of small daily practices you will actually keep. Built on the Indonesian tradition behind everything JUARA makes.
In Indonesia, jamu is not what you reach for when you are unwell. It is what you make in the morning, every morning, because looking after yourself is ordinary rather than exceptional.
You already understand this. It is why you have a ritual for your skin rather than a product you use when something goes wrong. This programme applies the same thinking to the rest of the day: what you eat, how you move, how you sleep, and who you see.
Jamu is not just an ingredient. It is a belief that wellbeing is a daily practice, not an occasional luxury.
Metta Murdaya, Founder

The same botanicals that sit in JUARA formulations have been taken as jamu for centuries, brewed daily, at home, long before anyone called it wellness.
Why this is not another programme
Nothing here is prescribed to you.
Most programmes hand you a plan and measure whether you followed it. This one starts from the opposite position. The practice that works is the one that suits you, and you are the person best placed to find it.
01
Cocok, the thing that suits you
There is an Indonesian word for the moment something clicks and you recognise it as yours. Two people can be given identical advice and only one will keep it. When something is not working here, we assume it did not fit you, and we change it.
02
If you don't enjoy it, it goes
Enjoyment is not a reward for doing the healthy thing. It is the reason the healthy thing is still happening in March. Every practice is chosen partly because you like it, and anything you merely tolerate gets replaced.
03
A person, not an app
The same guide, in the room, every week for twelve weeks. Nothing to download, no food diary, nothing to log daily. If you want to track something that is your decision, not a requirement.
The twelve weeks
Where this takes you.
Twelve weeks. A practice takes roughly two to three months to stop requiring a decision. The programme is as long as that takes and no longer.
Weeks 1 – 3
Understand
Where you actually are, in your words. We take a starting picture across six areas of life, and you leave with one small change, deliberately smaller than feels worthwhile.
Weeks 4 – 6
Explore
One area each week: food, movement, rest, self-care. You begin to see what connects to what, and why some weeks feel better than others. A second picture at week six.
Weeks 7 – 9
Strengthen
What survives a difficult week, and what does not. We build the smallest version of each practice that still works, and agree exactly how you come back after a break.
Weeks 10 – 12
Yours
Your own set of practices, written in your words. Week eleven you run it without a session. Week twelve we compare all three pictures and you keep the plan.
The order flexes. If one area is already working for you, we spend the time somewhere it is needed.
What we look at
Six areas.
You will cover all six across the twelve weeks. You will work on the one or two where the gap is widest, chosen by you in the first session.
01
Nourishment
What you eat and drink, and whether you enjoy it. No meal plan, nothing removed.
02
Physical wellbeing
Movement, strength, balance and whether you are recovering from what you already do.
03
Rest and recovery
Not sleep, which nobody can decide to do. The hour before it, which you can.
04
Self-care and the senses
The daily things done with attention rather than at speed. Where JUARA already lives.
05
Mind and mood
What you are carrying, and whether there is any point in the day that belongs to you.
06
Connection and meaning
The people, the outdoors, and the things you do that have no purpose at all.
What you receive
Everything included.
One price. Nothing else to buy, and no products required to take part.
Twelve weekly sessionsForty-five minutes, in person, with the same guide. Your first session runs closer to an hour.
·
Three pictures of where you areAt week one, week six and week twelve, using the same measures each time, so the change is visible rather than assumed.
·
Weekly group activityA walk, a market trip, a cooking evening. Entirely optional and most of them are free.
·
Your written planAt week twelve, in your words: what keeps you well, what derails it, and what you do about that.
·
The option to continueAn ongoing membership is available afterwards. Discussed around week nine, and nobody is obliged.
Honestly
Is this you?
Probably, if
You look after yourself reasonably well and still do not feel as good as you think you should.
Your sleep has been average for so long you have stopped mentioning it.
You keep meaning to sort out the food, or the stress, or the evenings, and it keeps sliding.
You want to still be doing all of this at seventy.
You like food, wine and your friends and have no intention of giving any of them up.
Something has shifted recently: a birthday, a diagnosis in the family, perimenopause, or a blood test that was not quite what you expected.
Probably not, if
You want a weight-loss programme, a meal plan or a training plan.
You are looking for a diagnosis or treatment. This is not medical care and we will refer you if something clinical comes up.
You would rather do it alone with an app.
You cannot commit to forty-five minutes a week for twelve weeks.
You are not based in or near Wellington. The programme is delivered in person. Join the waitlist for other regions.
Who you will be working with
Written by one. Delivered by another.
Your guide
Katrina McClelland
Thirty years in health and fitness, a former instructor and dancer, and six years running an equine therapy programme. She shaped the movement side of this programme around balance and enjoyment rather than intensity. She will be the person in the room with you every week.

The method
Metta Murdaya
Born in Jakarta, raised between Indonesia and San Francisco, Metta co-founded JUARA in 2006. Her award-winning book Jamu Lifestyle is the definitive guide to Indonesian herbal wellness, and this programme is her method adapted for delivery one to one.
The programme is delivered in person in Wellington and runs with twelve people so that every session is one to one. When the places are taken, the next intake opens.

Less than a single personal training session per week, and it includes everything listed above.
Pay in fullOne payment, place confirmed immediately$720
Forty-five minutes a week with your guide, plus whatever the practices themselves take, usually a few minutes a day by design. The group activity is optional. There is nothing to log and no homework.
Do I need to buy JUARA products to take part?
No. Products are not part of the programme and nothing is sold to you during it. Some practices involve things you already own or already do.
Is this a diet or a training programme?
Neither. No meal plans, no calorie targets, no training programme, and nothing is banned. If you want a diet or a training plan, this is the wrong programme and we would rather say so now.
What if something medical comes up?
Your guide works on habits and everyday practices. She is not a doctor and does not diagnose or treat anything. If something clinical surfaces, she will tell you and help you find the right person, and the programme continues alongside that.
What happens at the end?
You keep your written plan. There is an optional ongoing membership, a monthly check-in and continued access to the group, discussed around week nine so it never arrives as a surprise. Nobody is obliged to continue.
I am not in Wellington.
This intake is Wellington only because it is delivered in person. Join the waitlist and we will let you know when a programme opens near you.
Twelve places
Begin before anything is wrong.
That is the whole idea behind jamu, and the reason this programme exists. Twelve weeks from now you will know which few things genuinely change how you feel, and you will have kept them.
